With only two weeks to the big Charity Ride, nine members turned-up for this club ride down to the fabulous Sea Wall Cafe for refreshments.
It was decided that there would be two ride options; a harder route and the planned route. Five members decided to add a few more miles and gain some altitude by going via Shirenewton, whilst the other four opted for the planned variation.
The Shirenewton gang of Leon, Nick, Nathan, Grahame and Greg ended up doing 37 miles and gained in excess of 1300 feet in height, whilst the other route was 28 miles ridden by Carolyn, Jason, Peter and Tony.
Both groups met-up at the cafe and it was coffee and toasted teacakes all round with a group photo taken outside before the return ride to Caldicot.
Riders:
- Leon Jones
- Jason Dawe
- Nick Powell
- Grahame Morton
- Tony Griffiths
- Carolyn Griffiths
- Peter Hanks
- Nathan Finney
- Greg Tinker
How can you claim going up to Shirenewton is gaining Altitude? It’s only a couple of hundred feet above sea level at low tide. Still, it is steep.
Thanks Seawall Tearooms for your kind donation to the Victims of Chernobyl charity.
We will, love the teacakes – shame you are not on the route of our Charity Ride on the 13th July, we would have called in.
Not sure how to donate for Biking for Belarus Children so will give you cash next time you visit
Great photo, always welcome at Seawall Tearooms hope the weather is better next time
