That’s approximately 44 miles and 1,500 feet climbing a week.

Who can complete the distance of the famous American ‘Highway’, Route 66, during their club and training rides during 2016?

A fee of £10 will be charged for administration which will be donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, our chosen charity for 2016.

  1. Just one lone rider out today, Kirstie Benjamin taking on the steep climb from Mounton to improve her climbing stats, and also crossing the Missouri State Line and reaching St. Louis.

  2. The ‘Blue’ team take the lead again thanks to Chris Nolan’s 22 mile ride and Sue Earnshaw’s 13 mile climb of Shirenewton, through the wind and rain today. The ‘Red’ team are also closing the gap, with Tony and Sharon putting 19 miles each and Christine Smith another 13 miles. Congratulations to Sue on reaching Springfield, Illinois. You are now on your way to St. Louis and Missouri.

    Fantastic efforts from everybody this month, won’t be long till the Just Giving site will be ready for sponsorship so we can start contributing to Motor Neurone. This Event will now move to the CMCCC – Route 66 (February) post. Thanks for your support.

  3. Big ride today by Steve Tobin, which puts him through the Missouri State Line and past the city of St. Louis. Good efforts as well from Helen Gilmore who reached Pontiac, Illinois, Christine Smith, Kirstie Benjamin, Helena Hunt and Tony Griffiths.

  4. Three riders out today, Rob Stallard clicking up some climbing feet with a 21 mile ride up to Shirenewton, and Chris Nolan and Kirstie Benjamin popping along to Mathern for a pint. Congrats to Kirstie who has completed 300 miles in January.

  5. Four Route 66’s out today, pick of the riders was Sue Earnshaw whose 26 mile, 1,350 feet ride has left her just 2 miles outside Springfield, Illinois. Also out were fellow ‘Blue’ teamers Chris Nolan and Kirstie Benjamin with 11 mile rides which takes their team back to the top of the pile. Also out was Christine Smith with a 13 mile ride on her way to St. Louis.

  6. Dodging the rainstorms, will it ever stop! – Only brave Robert Stallard out today, moving himself into 3rd place and taking the ‘Yellow’ team off the bottom of the league, with a 24 mile ride through the river that was St. Brides Road (see picture of Rob, yes that is a road!) – Rob’s efforts means he has reached Springfield, Illinois and his on the road to St. Louis.

  7. Just one rider out today, Robert Stallard clocked 15 miles which puts him just 1 mile outside Springfield, illinois.

  8. That intrepid couple, Kirstie Benjamin and Chris Nolan pushed the ‘Blue’ team into the lead with 30 mile rides today. His efforts also saw Chris reach Pontiac. Good rides from Helen Gilmore and Christine Smith saw them improve their position, with Christine reaching Springfield, Illinois.

  9. Excellent effort again by the R66s. Top ride today went to Sue Earnshaw with a 30 miler to Raglan, closely followed by Tracey Eastabrook and Steve Tobin. Aso out where, Kirstie Benjamin, Chris Nolan, Christine Smith and Tony and Carolyn Griffiths.

    Leader Steve is now entering the suburbs of St. Louis, while Christine is just outside Springfield and Chris is nearly in Pontiac.

  10. More miles done today by the intrepid Route 66 rollers. Impressive mileage by Steve Tobin and Rob Stallard clocking 35 miles, closely followed by David Whittle with a ride to the beach at Porthcawl. Also out, for the fifth day running, Kirstie Benjamin, and Christine Smith.
    Kirstie’s ride saw her ride through Springfield, Illinois and now on her way to St. Louis.
