That’s approximately 44 miles and 1,500 feet climbing a week.

Who can complete the distance of the famous American ‘Highway’, Route 66, during their club and training rides during 2016?

A fee of £10 will be charged for administration which will be donated to the Motor Neurone Disease Association, our chosen charity for 2016.

  1. Great effort today despite the rain, only a few went out but chapeau to Gareth Davies who clocked-up 66 miles Gareth, along with Steve Tobin have completed the 1st Stage and well on their way to California.

  2. Another rider reaches Pontiac, Steve Tobin after a long ride across the bridge of 54 miles to Thornbury. The ‘Greens’ have the lead.

  3. Welcome to Pontiac, Illinois Kirstie Benjamin – you have reached the first checkpoint, well done. Great effort from Steve Tobin win a 39 miler today.

  4. Hardly ever a day goes by without Miss Consistent, Kirstie is not out pushes the miles in. Another 11 again today which helps the ‘Blue’ team take the lead and Kirstie just 15 miles away from Pontiac, the first checkpoint.

  5. Fantastic effort today, 12 riders out today clocking the miles in, and another two, Tony and Sharon Ward are off the mark. Great effort by Sue Earnshaw who completed two rides totally 45 miles today.

  6. It was the turn of the ‘Yellow’ team today to make some progress – a good 20 mile ride from Rob Stallard.

  7. Sixteen riders have now made a start on the R66 Challenge, with Neil Gilmore getting in 18 miles in amongst the rain showers. Good efforts from Helen Gilmore, Christine Smith and Steve Tobin who also braved the weather.

  8. Yesterday saw our 15th rider make a start on the 2,277 mile journey to California – Steve Tobin who clocked-up 28 miles.

  9. Welcome to Pontiac, Illinois Gareth Davies – we now have 20 riders interested in the challenge, 14 have already made their way. Good start from Helen Gilmore with 17 miles on the hilly ascent to Brynmawr.
