THE STATES
THE RIDERS
THE FINISHERS

Good few miles put in today, Tony and Sharon Ward cycled 51 miles in the warm climate of Majorca, whilst Christine Smith put in two rides to Goldcliff, and Tony Griffiths headed uphill to Llanvair Discoed and Llanvaches. Congrats to the two Tony’s, Ward on reaching St. Louis, Missouri and Griffiths on breaking the 700 mile barrier.
More miles under the belt for Christine Smith, a catch-up from the weekend for Sue Earnshaw, also rides for Neil Gilmore and Rob Stallard.
Congrats to Christine for breaking 1,400 miles and reaching Albuquerque, New Mexico; to Sue Earnshaw and Rob Stallard for getting to McLean, Texas and to Neil Gilmore for passing through St. Louis, Missouri.
Just the leader out today, an 18 mile ride to Usk for Christine Smith puts her just 12 miles outside Albuqerque, New Mexico.
Not much action today, although congrats must go to Rob the Clock for passing 1,000 miles and reaching the Texas State Line. Also some catch-up for John and Kaf Faragher with a ride to Raglan.
A busy weekend, with some epic rides especially Gareth Davies 96 miles on the Herio, Steve Tobin with a 60 mile ride around Raglan, Francesca Cooper and Helen Gilmore near 60 mile ride to Monmouth circular and Christine Smith with a weekend away which included a 48 miler. Good efforts from lots of others and I know there is more to come from Sue Earnshaw and the Faragher’s. Although he is not taking part in the Route 66 Challenge, a special mention must be made of Glyn Watkins 130 mile ride to the Gower.
Four riders hit landmarks this weekend, Steve getting to Tucumcari, New Mexico, Gareth and Helen to Oklahoma City and Sharon Ward reaching St. Louis.
Also some mileage goals reached; Steve to 1,200, Gareth and Helen to 800, Francesca Cooper to 400, Neil Gilmore and Tony Ward to 300.
Just Rob ‘The Clock’ Stallard out today for a 25 miler, weather not to good put off others. Also a catch up for Francesca Cooper with a 29 mile ride to Rhoose earlier in the week. I am sure it will be a busy weekend.
Two riders hit milestones today, leader Christine Smith made it to Santa Rose, New Mexico and David Whittle passed the 600 mile mark and crossed the State Line into Oklahoma.
Santa Rosa’s stretch of U.S. Route 66 is part of film history. When John Steinbeck’s epic novel, The Grapes of Wrath, was made into a movie, director John Ford used Santa Rosa for the memorable train scene. Tom Joad (Henry Fonda) watches a freight train steam over the Pecos River railroad bridge, into the sunset. It was also one of shooting scenes for Bobbie Jo and the Outlaw starring Lynda Carter in the titular role.
Not much to report tonight, just three riders out with a trip to the pub in Mathern for Grahame Morton, Carolyn and Tony Griffiths.
Two riders out today, leader Christine Smith clocking in another 18 miles and Shane Carey another 33 miles. No major milestones reached today although Shane has moved into third place and a counting score for the ‘Green’ team and Christine has cleared 30,000 climbing feet.
Tony,
Will not be able to download rides from West Wales due to no internet connection, so be prepared for lots when I get home!!
OK Sue, best of luck.
