Walk 12 – Caerleon Ruins

Sunday, 6th December 2020

Great walk today, starting at the impressive Ampitheatre in Caerleon, across the bridge to Bulmore and onto the Celtic Manor 2010 course. The obstacle of the closed bridge did not put the intrepid seven walkers and Henry the dog off, so a bit of clambering and edging along the parapet before carrying on back to Caerleon. The route then took us up the steep incline at the back of the Uni building and onto the long climb to the top of Lodge Hill and into the woods. Past the Iron Age fort following the muddy and slippering path along the top of the ridge which gave some superb views across Newport. Dropping down onto the boardwalk path back to Caerleon, and finishing off with Sunday lunch (no beer though) at the Goldcroft Inn. Lovely walk with great company
