Choir Walkers – Reservoir Loop

Sunday, 16th November 2025

Sixteen walkers turned-up at the Woodlands Tavern for the Wentwood Reservoir walk.

First stop was an Llanfair Discoed Church, where views of the medieval castle could be seen through the trees in the adjoining field.

Onwards heading for Llanfaches via Windmill Lane before bearing right along the steep gradient of the lane on the far side of the reservoir; with a stop at the Lime Kilns for photos.

On reaching the half-way point above the visitors car park, it was across the road onto the slopes of Gray Hill, following a narrow, muddy bridleway back towards Llanfair, but firstly visiting the medieval farm, deep in the forest with gushes of water flowing down from the hill after recent heavy rain.

After a visit to the ancient far, it was back to the Woodland Tavern for a very hearty Sunday lunch enjoyed by all.
